We have a new and exciting vacancy within our team as a Pit Equipment Design Engineer whose sole focus will be to add performance to make our pit stops even quicker. This position will be within our Engineering Office based in Enstone.
Pit Stop Equipment Design Engineer – The Role
Reporting to the Senior Technology Designer this role is focussing solely on the improvement of pit stop performance. This is through the design and optimisation of new innovative components/systems, supervising the parts throughout production, quality tests, installation and testing.
They will be responsible for the design of pit stop equipment such as front and rear jacks, wheel gun & socket, gantry, traffic lights, pit stop practice test rig parts. They will also be responsible for the development of race car systems related to pit stops such as wheel nut and retention system.
This is a unique and exciting role which provides an opportunity to directly impact race performance.
Pit Stop Equipment Design Engineer – The Person
We are looking for an experienced mechanical designer who has a proven track record in pit equipment design
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Mechanical Engineering Degree or similar
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fast-paced engineering industries such as Formula 1 and/or Aerospace
- Strong CAD and FEA skills, ideally with experience of CATIA V5/3DX
- Understanding of hand calculations for stress
- Previous experience in design of pit stop equipment
- Basic understanding of hydraulic and electrical components would be advantageous
The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail and an analytical approach, strong ability to lead projects and good problem-solving ability. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential along with enjoyment of collaborative working.
