Footage Researcher

Formula 1 covers a huge range of disciplines across a wide array of industry sectors, drawing the very best from our teams of technicians, engineers and media rights specialists and encouraging the creativity of experts in the fields of digital and traditional media, marketing and communications.  From timekeeping, to software development, broadcast engineering and content creation, we are truly the 11th Formula 1 team.

We are recruiting for a Footage Researcher in our Content Production Department who would be based at our Media and Technology Centre in Biggin Hill.  Do you have what it takes to be part of the world’s greatest sport and entertainment spectacle?

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and log recent and historical Grand Prix event footage and create compilations to assist with edits being produced in-house, and for supply to external clients, broadcasters and Formula 1 Teams.

  • Export and upload electronic copies of footage, ensuring picture and audio is correctly configured.

  • To assist Producers in the research of current and historical Formula 1 stories, information and data.

  • Working to a brief provided by the Executive Producer, occasionally create basic video edits using various media sources.

  • Provide research and compilation support to the race team during F1 events, working remotely from the Formula 1 Media & Technology Centre in Biggin Hill.

  • To occasionally transcribe dialogue for scripting purposes.

  • To keep fully aware of all developments in Formula 1.

  • To operate within company requirements for health and safety, legal, environmental and general duty of care compliance.

  • To undertake other duties within your capabilities as your manager may assign to you from time to time.

Qualifications

  • At least an HND in English, Media Studies or equivalent.

  • Media qualification with emphasis on TV Post Production Desirable.

Experience

  • At least one year’s experience as a runner, researcher or production assistant in a broadcast environment.

  • Experience of non-linear editing.

  • Experience working in a research/footage supply environment desirable.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Understanding of Adobe Premiere Pro.

  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of Formula 1.

  • Basic understanding of current TV production techniques and equipment.

  • Understanding of contemporary video file formats and codecs

  • Working knowledge of file formats, codecs and television transmission standards desirable

  • Preferably good knowledge of Adobe Premier desirable

Other

  • EU driving licence

  • Ability to travel
