Whilton Mill is a hub for go-karting and outdoor activities. We're home to a thriving grass-roots motorsport club that sees competitive 2-stroke kart races on the 4th Sunday of every month. Additionally, Whilton Mill is open 7 days a week offering individuals and groups a variety of karting and outdoor activity packages.
We're looking for a Kitchen Assistant/Cook to join the exisiting Whilton Mill Bistro team on a part time basis; up to 15-hours per week. Some weekend work will be required. The successful candidate will be a good communicator who is capable to run the Whilton Mill Bistro in the absence of our Catering Manager/Chef. This will require a high level of attention to detail, ability to manage teams and work unsupervised in a busy enviroment.
Main duties:
- Assisting in the food preparation process
- Cooking and preparing dishes
- Preparing vegetables, meats and fish
- Assisting other Chefs
- Covering in the Chef absence
- Helping with deliveries and restocking
- Assisting with stock rotation
- Cleaning
- Contributing to maintaining kitchen and food safety standards.
Desired qualities:
- Level 1 and 2 Food Safety Awards
- Minimum 6 months relevant experience
- Awareness of manual handling techniques
- Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and chemical safety
- Experience of kitchen equipment
- Experience of dangerous equipment such as knives
- Competent level of English spoken and written
15-hours per week, weekday/weekends
