Rally Prep specialises in building and maintaining motorsport vehicles. We undertake a wide range of services including:

  • Restoration and Modification- Classic vehicle restoration & specialist road car builds/modification
  • Rally/Road Rally- Build & preparation of modern and historic specification rally cars
  • Speed Events- Car build & preparation for hill climb, sprint, racing or track day use
  • Vehicle Build/Assembly- Bespoke build/assembly of prototype and series production EV and ICE sports vehicles

About the Role

The Workshop Manager is responsible for the day to day management of the workshop, overseeing all services delivered, ensuring works are undertaken to the required levels of quality and productivity. The role will also be required to undertake work as a technician to support customer’s works as required.

The role, supported by the Parts and Procurement Supervisor is responsible for the pricing, programming and delivery of all Rally Prep work including drop in maintenance services, race preparation, restoration projects and specialist build projects.

The role is responsible for the Health, Safety and Wellbeing of the workshop staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Produce estimates and quotations for works as required
  • Effectively manage operations ensuring productivity and financial targets are met
  • Work planning and allocation of resources on a day to day basis to ensure customer deadlines are met
  • Oversee works ensuring an appropriate standard of workmanship at all times
  • Production of project plans for larger scale projects ensuring works are managed in accordance with the agreed project plans
  • Manage vehicle build technicians ensuring vehicle assemblies are completed on time to the required quality
  • Customer liaison for project vehicles providing customers with regular updates on their projects, communicating changes and resolving issues as required
  • Ensure accurate and appropriately narrated time entries within the workshop time recording system
  • Ensure all workshop operations conform to required Quality, Health, Safety and Environment standards at all times
  • Establish workshop procedures to support the safe and effective operation of the workshop
  • Maintain and regularly update the Workshop Work Plan
  • Review and sign off customer invoices
  • Fault find and diagnose customer issues
  • Provide specialist advice to customers
  • Manage the sourcing and delivery of parts within required cost and time parameters
  • Support any other required duties of the business

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • IMI Level 4 or equivalent qualification
  • Proven organisational and administrative skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience of working on race preparation and or restoration of classic or prestige motor vehicles
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office
  • Experience of stores management and/or parts ordering

Desirable

  • Experience of managing vehicle workshops
  • Experience of whole vehicle build/assembly
  • Member of motor industry accredited body
  • IOSHH Managing Safely or equivalent Health and Safety qualification
  • Experience of managing budgets
