Purpose of Role

Reporting to the Production Control Manager within the Production Planning & Control team, the Senior Production Controller will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of the daily load planning and sequence adherence in the McLaren Production Centre (MPC), along with the governance of downtime and offline car management.

Working in a cross-functional setting, you will contribute to overall departmental goals and company profitability by proactively working closely with teams in Body Assembly, Sub Assembly, Paint Shop, General Assembly, Material Control, Logistics Operations and Quality Engineering.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Support with the delivery of departmental KPIs to ensure the required activities are completed to the required standard in the defined timescales
  • Create, maintain, and own operational and project reports
  • Effectively communicates and liaises with cross functional teams on successful implementation and completion of projects, continuous improvements, and action plans
  • Support with actions from the daily team/operations meetings, ensuring effective execution by members of the team for timely resolutions to emerging challenges
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested
  • Use benchmarking and other research methods to identify potential opportunities for the latest technology and methodologies to drive Best in Class performance and solutions
  • Manage daily plan versus actual reporting across all lines within MPC, ensuring any anomalies are rectified
  • Create, review, and distribute production status reports
  • Create and distribute end of shift summary reports and production performance reports
  • Create and update production performance data to support daily production meetings
  • Execute the load plan process incorporating daily load plan validation meetings and SAP load plan management
  • Protect the sequence adherence throughout MPC whilst controlling and reporting all instances of production line disruption through the established processes
  • Ensure the re-introduction process of any displaced cars is followed to minimise any delays to production completion
  • Support the introduction of defined block changes, including larger Model Year changes, are highlighted and properly managed through MPC to minimise any risks of mixed condition running on the line
  • Drive load plan and sequence adherence through effective stakeholder engagement to minimise any disruption to production
  • Analyse station sign-off performance and control specific WIP areas in MPC to ensure consistent line performance
  • Conduct WIP audits as necessary to identify any bottlenecks and data/sign off gaps
  • Ensure any special or specific priority orders are highlighted and additional attention is provided to their progress through MPC
  • Support in executing exceptional changes (specification, data etc.) to orders in production
  • Support enquiries related to production status, performance, WIP and load plans
  • Support in the continuous improvement of production and business processes within the team and the wider Logistics department
  • Provide cover for absence within your team and have a flexible approach to working hours as business needs dictate

  • Experience of managing multi-skilled teams in multi-shift operations
  • Good level of knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and experience with SAP is essential
  • Previous experience working within an OEM is an advantage
  • Involvement/knowledge in new product launch will be an advantage
  • Proven ability to act under pressure with calmness, clarity of thought and decisive authority
