Purpose of Role

As a Senior Finance Analyst, you will be part of a team delivering effective financial control. You will be primarily responsible for:

Principal Accountabilities

  • Complete month end closing and reporting activities and provide support to the team during deadline periods.
  • Ad-Hoc analysis on both P&L and Balance sheet areas and accounts to improve controls and postings, as well as add-value pieces for wider business reporting.
  • Support wider Finance teams by providing information, guidance and coaching as and when required. Become a point of contact for technical accounting queries, and ensure technical accounting papers are up to date and aligned with those of the McLaren Group.
  • Produce and, where necessary, update documentation including process flowcharts, process narratives, risk and control matrices and evaluate controls as new systems are developed and/or process changes.
  • Investigation and analysis of SAP GL accounts to help with documentation & understanding of balances and to challenge business stakeholders on open items.
  • Other ad-hoc technical, financial and business projects; including preparing presentations for senior management to summarise findings.
  • Support delivery of both internal and external audit processes, working with audit teams to meet audit testing requirements.
  • Scope and implement pragmatic solutions to desired control process improvements and process changes.
  • Build cross-functional relationships.
  • Ensure adequate focus on both personal and career development.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), with strong technical accounting background
  • Advanced Excel skills required to interrogate and manage large volumes of complex data.
  • Experience of accounting systems, preference for SAP experience
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerApps (incl. Power BI) preferable
  • Experience in Management Accountant or equivalent roles (1+ years preferable)
  • Experience of external and internal audits
  • Experience of compiling data, analysis and reporting for senior stakeholders, and ability to understand and articulate finance performance drivers.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple workstreams.
