General Role Overview

At the heart of Fisker’s visionary product lies a state-of-the-art powertrain, and you can play a central role in its delivery.

The Senior Engineer, Powertrain Diagnostics Systems will ensure that our powertrain complies with relevant OBD regulations and diagnostic fault monitoring and mitigation strategies.  You will develop the diagnostic capabilities of the powertrain and help to define product architecture to meet fault monitoring requirements for remote diagnostics and to support service teams in root causing field issues.

Fisker is a fast-moving technologically focused startup, and in this context, you will need considerable flexibility and adaptability to deal with the rapidly developing requirements at the leading edge of EV Thermal and Powertrain implementation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define and implement diagnostic fault monitoring strategy and mitigation plan for electric vehicle powertrain.

  • Compile documentation required for regulatory compliance with OBD II requirements as needed.

  • Complete vehicle level verification testing of diagnostic fault paths and reactions, including PVE testing.

  • Stay up to date with ZEV OBD regulations as defined by CARB and define strategy to comply.

  • Perform Powertrain Diagnostics Software architecture design and implementation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.  Master of Science is preferred.

  • 4 to 8 years of relevant professional experience in HV Powertrain Systems at an Automotive OEM or Tier 1 Supplier.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies

  • Experience in Requirements Management software tools, such as DOORS, Polarion, and JAMA.

  • Experience in MATLAB model-based software implementation and software validation.

  • Familiarity with Functional Safety standards (ISO-26262) and Software (SW) strategies to fulfill safety goals.

  • Familiarity with DFMEA and PFMEA.

  • Strong experience in supplier selection and management.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally, as required.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run.
