Project Engineer

We are currently seeking a dynamic Project Engineer to play a pivotal role within the Civil Works Programme, steering the design and technical aspects of a landmark infrastructure endeavour.

Role Overview:

As a Project Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Engineering & Technical function within the Civil Works Programme, tasked with defining design requirements, orchestrating engineering endeavours, and ensuring seamless integration within the project framework. Reporting to either the Design Manager or the Engineering & Technical Project Manager, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to drive project success.

Key Responsibilities:

When supporting a Design Manager:

Assist in defining or validating technical requirements and specifications in alignment with project stakeholders.
Manage technical open points and design changes, navigating through governance processes to ensure adherence to project standards.
Provide technical assurance for end-to-end design, overseeing reviews and approvals as per surveillance plans.
Facilitate risk management activities, identifying and mitigating potential challenges.
Coordinate technical interfaces with external parties, fostering collaboration and synergy.
Ensure compliance with engineering and design processes throughout the project lifecycle.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver designs within specified timelines and budgets.

When Supporting the Engineering & Technical Project Manager:

Provide technical input for various project aspects, including early warnings, compensation events, and technical queries.
Assist in managing the engineering and technical budget within designated scope areas.
Contribute to updates of project schedules, liaising with technical schedulers for accurate planning.
Support contract management activities for design supply chain contracts.
Liaise with allied programmes and stakeholders as directed by the Engineering & Technical Project Manager.
Offer technical assistance to procurement and commercial teams as needed.
Facilitate risk management processes to safeguard project objectives.
Ensure timely reporting in accordance with project reporting requirements.
Requirements:

Essential:

Strong knowledge of design activities in civil engineering or related fields.
Experience in technical collaboration within project teams.
Ability to communicate effectively across various levels and stakeholders.
Bachelors degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
Desirable:

Experience in the nuclear sector, particularly in safety-related design.
Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
Previous involvement in the delivery or management of civil engineering projects.
