SUMMARY:

The Program Seller will be responsible for selling race programs to spectators attending race events.  The Program Seller engages spectators, providing information about the day’s races, and promoting the sale of race programs, which serve as guides and souvenirs. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Approach spectators and offer race programs for sale in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Educate customers about the contents and benefits of the race program, highlighting key information such as race schedules, driver profiles, and track maps.
  • Answer questions and provide assistance to customers regarding race-related inquiries, directions, and facility amenities.
  • Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently, processing payments for race programs and providing change as needed.
  • Maintain a secure cash float and adhere to established cash handling procedures to prevent errors and discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with sales policies, pricing guidelines, and promotional offers.
  • Manage inventory levels of race programs, restocking supplies as necessary to meet demand throughout the event.
  • Keep work area clean and organized, including the display of race programs for easy access and visibility.
  • Collaborate with fellow program sellers and event staff to ensure smooth operations and efficient distribution of race programs.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and coordinators to address any issues or concerns related to sales, inventory, or customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); prior experience in retail sales, customer service, or event operations preferred; basic math skills and proficiency in handling cash transactions accurately; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
