Motorsports Vehicle Dynamics XiL Software Engineer

Job Description

Hybrid: Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time, but the general expectation is that the employee be onsite at minimum three (3) days each week.

The Role

We are seeking a Vehicle Dynamics XiL Software Engineer to advance the engineering products in the GM Motorsports XiL program.  You will work with teams and end users to ensure that a consistent product is provided and maintained such that the race teams can rely on GM provided tools to improve the performance of their race cars and optimize the execution of XiL sessions.  Modern technology should always be monitored and implemented where improved scalability and performance of the software tools can be realized.

  • Contribute as part of the team that designs, implements, tests, and maintains during the full lifecycle of the software application development

  • Write code that is efficient, reusable, and reliable

  • Work closely with teams to perform software architecture assessments and prepare technical documentation to capture all requirements and implement them properly

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • BS in Computer Science or related field

  • 5 or more years of industry experience

  • 2+ years of professional software development experience for both front-end and back-end environments

  • 2+ years of experience developing applications in C#, .NET, WPF

  • Highly analytical, client-oriented, and structured, with excellent relationship and communicative skills

  • Great understanding of object-oriented programming and current best coding practices

  • Experience with Unit Tests (NUnit, xUnit, Moq)

  • Experience with SQL databases (SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL)

  • Experience using Git for version control, DevOps (ideal Azure Dev Ops) and CI/CD practices for agile environments

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience working with automotive or motorsports series

  • Experience with Prism library for WPF and MVVM

  • Experience developing Web Apps (React, Angular, ASP.NET Core)

  • Experience with real time communication technologies (SignalR, gRPC)

  • Experience with Azure Cloud Computing and Storage

  • Experience with Kubernetes

  • Experience with Dockers

  • Experience consuming and implementing REST APIs (ASP.NET Web APIs)
