Role Overview:

The Instructional Designer is responsible for developing quality training for Technical Service, Engineering and Technicians. Released courses will be mixed multi-media blended learning that includes but is not limited to instructor led, virtual, augmented reality and web-based deliverable that ignites lasting organizational efficiencies and supports business goals. The intended candidate will demonstrate a keen knowledge of instructional design and adult learning theory to propose learning solutions that are educationally impactful, cost-effective, easy to create, maintain, scale and are visually compelling. Proven experience developing aftersales curriculum and exhibiting a can-do attitude to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment is a must.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Through blended learning experiences, design custom learning curricula, resource materials and job aids to drive increased competencies through technology that drive Fixed Right the First Time and Customer Satisfaction.

  • Partner directly with subject matter experts to design and develop engaging content for a variety of audiences with innovative delivery modes and clear tactics to achieve desired learning outcomes.

  • Maintain and revise learning products, keeping specific audience, learning modality, and other learning considerations in mind while always looking for the most efficient way to express the desired learning objectives, with sustainability in mind.

  • Serve as project manager on multiple learning development projects simultaneously with the ability to stay within timelines and budgets and adjust as business needs require.

  • Collaborate with aftersales, engineering and manufacturing to revise existing learning products as part of an ongoing process to keep content relevant and useful for the target audience.

  • Design evaluation strategies and tools to measure program effectiveness, and to determine whether desired learning and performance outcomes are achieved. Assists in developing valid criteria-based tests.

  • Acts as an internal consultant to the organization in the development and implementation of learning initiatives of a complex nature; and make presentations based on established agendas/lesson plans.

  • Assists business operations in the analysis of new/enhanced learning management system and processes for usability and efficiency recommendations.

  • Recommends and designs means to measure the effectiveness of learning initiatives, evaluates, and interprets the results.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive Technology, Training Development or Instructional Design Preferred

  • Minimum Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology or equivalent Technician certification

  • Preferred ASE A4, A5, A7

  • Three or more years of Automotive Experience

  • Three or more years of hands-on HV system experience

  • Experience designing and developing training curriculum, including facilitator and participant guides

  • Experience with design tools used in a learning creation environment (Adobe InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator)

  • Microsoft Office:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.

  • JIRA experience a plus

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies:

  • Practical hands-on experience in EV Powertrain, OTA Technology, High / Low Voltage System as well as Suspension / Steering, Brakes, Electrical / Electronic Systems, and Heating & Air Conditioning.

  • Fluent spoken and written English, additional language is a plus.

  • Outstanding analytical and technical problem-solving abilities based on the mastery of diagnostic principles.

  • Extremely organized and detail oriented.

  • Ability to organize and drive continuous improvement.

  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills to work with internal and external partners at all levels within the organization and to represent Fisker in a professional manner.

  • Ability to perform in a high-pressure environment and to meet tight deadlines.

  • Ability to work without direct supervision, an independent self-starter with a sense of urgency.

  • Ability to work multiple projects at a time.

  • Willingness to take ownership of jobs and work independently beyond assigned position to successfully complete them.

Working Conditions:

  • While most work will be at the Training Center (La Palma, Ca), some travel may be required. Must be willing to travel both domestically, as well as internationally.

  • Must be willing to work overtime and on weekends as needed to meet deadlines and goals.

  • Exposed to service workshop environment that requires lifting moderate weights, standing for long hours, wearing personal protective equipment, etc.
