Purpose of Role

As Electromechanical Devices Engineer you will be responsible for development and delivery of state-of-the-art electromechanical devices for future McLaren road cars.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Define new concepts and controls for the Cockpit Electronics team.
  • Develop new Technology Partnerships to complement a particular roadmap stream from conception to series production.
  • Specify, develop, test, and deliver all electromechanical devices for the Cockpit Electronics team.
  • Develop system requirements and manage suppliers.
  • Create test cases and procedures, and conduct manual testing.
  • Support the Infotainment and Cockpit Electronics Manager in proof-of-concept development and business reviews.
  • Own new requests for interaction devices on the vehicle, including steering wheels, gloveboxes, roof linings, and external door switches.
  • Lead robust benchmarking exercises and provide market insight and future trends, including networking with suppliers and attending fairs and conventions.
  • Deliver a fully validated product that meets the agreed Component Technical Specification.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience in the development and delivery of mechanical, electrical or electronic systems for automotive applications
  • Experience of the Systems Development Lifecycle (V Model); writing system requirements, defining test cases and writing test procedures.
  • Ability to produce formal documentation to a professional standard.
  • To be well- versed in the creation and maintenance of DFMEA's
  • Organised, systematic and understand the process of fault finding.
  • Familiar with issue tracking tools (Jira, Mantis, Bugzilla etc.)
  • Able to interpret, coordinate and react to project milestones and defined timing plans.

  • A UK vehicle driving license
