About the Role:

This is a unique role, supporting the Head of EDI to provide expertise on EDI topics, with the ability to make a real difference both internally and externally.

You will work closely with key stakeholders across the team to shape, influence, support and facilitate the delivery of the EDI agenda to embed a culture of inclusion and respect.

As the key operational point of contact for a range of EDI issues, you will work closely with the HR Business Partnering team to motivate and inform managers and employees to bring EDI to life through your passion and expertise. This role requires high situational awareness and a strategic outlook, whilst also executing day to day tasks in a seamless, pragmatic way.
 

What will this role involve?

  • Supports the Head of EDI, Chief People Officer, and other key stakeholders to develop and implement the EDI strategy for the Team.

  • Serve as the first point of operational contact on EDI related matters, providing advice, information, training, and briefing materials as appropriate.

  • Help keep colleagues upskilled in EDI by organising workshops/training with external providers as well as supporting the Head of EDI to design and deliver bespoke workshops internally.

  • Provide support and guidance on the development of processes and procedures to ensure they are inclusive and free from bias.

  • Support the EDI Forum, other employee resource groups such as the women’s network, LGBTQ+ network.

  • Coordinate and host internal and external events, programmes and initiatives to support our EDI objectives e.g. mentoring programmes, work placements and career insight days.

  • To establish and be the point of contact for collaborations with external partners who support our strategic goals (Mulberry Trust, Stemettes, AFBE, Sutton Trust).

  • Monitor budget expenditure and work closely with Finance and Procurement to manage purchase orders and partnership agreements.

  • Analyse data and report against EDI metrics and best practice to highlight trends, potential risks for MGP and make recommendations for change.

To be successful you will have:

  • A degree level qualification or equivalent.

  • A strong understanding of employment legislation relating to equality and diversity as well as the commercial and competitive benefits of diversity principles.

  • Experience of delivering against an EDI (or related) strategy.

  • An understanding of the diversity issues in STEM.

  • Experience of providing solutions to EDI issues and taking opportunities to improve at all stages of the employee lifecycle.

  • The ability to review and update policies and procedures in line with changes in legislation.

  • The ability to establish strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and influence at all levels.

  • The ability to work independently and self-motivate to find innovative and practical solutions to complex problems.

  • The ability to work at both strategic and operational levels.

  • Effective presentation and facilitation skills – the ability to facilitate workshops/meetings with a range of stakeholders and deal with challenging questions.

  • Strong influencing and communications skills, to engage and inform colleagues on a range of EDI issues; being respectful of others’ viewpoints.

  • Excellent organisational skills, including multitasking and time-management, with the ability to deal positively and constructively with conflicting priorities.
