Purpose of Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Production Planning & Control within the Production Control team, the Production Control Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of the daily load planning and sequence adherence in the McLaren Production Centre (MPC), along with the governance of downtime and offline car management.

Working in a cross-functional setting, you will contribute to overall departmental goals and company profitability by proactively working closely with teams in Body Assembly, Sub Assembly, Paint Shop, General Assembly, Material Control, Logistics Operations and Quality Engineering.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Manage a team of skilled individuals providing training, motivation, and support in delivering departmental imperatives
  • Formulate and manage the department KPIs to ensure that the required activities are completed to the required standard in the defined timescales
  • Effectively communicates and liaises with cross functional teams on successful implementation and completion of projects, continuous improvements, and action plans
  • Delegates actions from the daily team/operations meetings, ensuring effective execution by members of the team for timely resolutions to emerging challenges
  • Use benchmarking and other research methods to identify potential opportunities for the latest technology and methodologies to drive Best in Class performance and solutions
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested
  • Oversee daily plan versus actual reporting across all lines within MPC
  • Lead the load plan process incorporating daily load plan validation meetings and SAP load plan management
  • Protect the sequence adherence throughout MPC whilst controlling and reporting all instances of production line disruption through the established processes
  • Control the re-introduction process of any displaced cars to minimise delay to production completion
  • Ensure the introduction of defined block changes, including larger Model Year changes, are highlighted and properly managed through MPC to minimise any risks of mixed condition running on the line
  • Analyse station sign-off performance and control specific WIP areas in MPC to ensure consistent line performance
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of production and business processes within the team and the wider Logistics department
  • Provide cover for absence within your team and have a flexible approach to working hours as business needs dictate, this will include shift hours on occasions

  • Understanding and experience in a manufacturing/process driven environment ideal
  • Experience of managing multi-skilled teams in multi-shift operations
  • Good level of knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and experience with SAP is essential
  • Previous experience working within an OEM is an advantage
  • Proven ability to act under pressure with calmness, clarity of thought and decisive authority
