The team is now looking to expand into the pinnacle of motorsport through our Andretti Cadillac Team.
Job description:
We have an opportunity for a Lead Engineer - Surface Design to join the Andretti Cadillac Team at the new Silverstone Facility. In this role you will lead a group of highly creative and skilled design engineers to deliver high quality surface geometry models to aid the aerodynamic development of the team’s race car. Principal Accountabilities:
- Management and responsibility of the Surface Design Team. Lead the delivery of high quality and complex surface geometry models for CFD, Wind Tunnel and full-size release.
- Work closely with Aerodynamicists to understand the definition and scope of all new surfaces, including modelling and construction approach.
- Liaise with model designers to ensure efficient implementation of aerodynamic projects.
- Manage and organise the release of aero surface geometry to the full-size car design office.
- Liaise with full-size car designers to create high quality surface geometry for full-size release.
- Mentor junior members of the group and support pushing forward methodologies and modelling improvements.
- Implement and manage standard design practices, ensuring these are adhered to.
- Maintain any relevant surface modelling documentation.
Requirements
- A minimum 8 years’ relevant experience in a similar role within the motorsport industry.
- Extensive experience in with 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA).
- Strong knowledge and understanding of surface quality, model layout and robustness.
- Possess a high level of understanding of surfacing and parametric modelling techniques.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors.
- Ability to line manage / lead teams effectively.
- Communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors.
- Clear and concise communication, verbally and with the use of email.
- Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
