As a Welder, you will be proficient in the use of MMA and MIG/MAG/FCAW welding processes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. You will be working on tasks requiring radiographic and ultrasonic examinations and passing the required welder approval tests associated with the welding processes quoted above in various welding positions.
In your first few weeks in this Welder role, you can expect to:
- Work on tasks requiring radiographic ultrasonic examination and passing the required welder approval tests associated with the welding processes quoted above in various welding positions
- Understand written and oral work instructions, including the use of welding procedure specifications and interpret engineering drawings showing welding symbols
- Work with health and safety risks associated with welding and working in the ship repair environment
To apply for this Welder role, your soft skills, expertise and experience should include:
- Experience in construction fabrication and an understanding of the methods to prevent welding distortion, including balanced welding sequences, restraining bars, etc
- Basic understanding of operational controls of the equipment associated with the welding processes
- Up-to-date welding qualifications
- Understanding of health and safety regulations involving hot work and confined spaces
- Experience with tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding
You must also be able to meet the Requirements for UK Security Clearance including the last 5 years resident in the UK
