The Transmission Engineer is responsible for the successful execution of all inbound and outbound broadcast transmission feeds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversee daily feeds, routes, and procedures in the Transmissions room including IP multicast transport and distribution.
  • Create workflows and procedures for transmissions operations.
  • Manage and execute video programming feeds to multiple client and internal departments.
  • Identify and correct logistical problems, in collaboration with Transmissions department; work with team to develop and implement processes to reduce and/or prevent future problems when possible.
  • Build complex Encoding schemes, MUX, and manage bit rates for At Home Productions.
  • Perform file based technical quality control evaluations of exported media content.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on transmissions equipment per manufacturers' recommendations.
  • Perform in-depth troubleshooting and repair on defective or malfunctioning transmissions equipment.
  • Coordinate video programming feeds to multiple clients.
  • Assist in training other engineers to perform necessary facility functions in a team environment.
  • Coordinate broadcast equipment resources.
  • Travel: <5%

QUALIFICATIONS                            

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
  • Minimum of six (6) years related Broadcast Engineering experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.                            
  • Proficient on Company-provided hardware and software; able to navigate in both PC and MAC platforms.                          
  • Understanding of video signal flow, ASI and Baseband video.
  • Administration of Video encoders and decoders; including set-up and operation.
  • Expert knowledge of multicast transport streams, ASI, stream analyzers and their use in troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with broadcast video/audio routing systems.
  • Proficiency of broadcast video formats, aspect ratios and conversion of those formats
  • In-depth knowledge and troubleshooting ability for:  Analog Video, SDI video, HDSDI, ASI, analog audio and AES audio.
  • Understanding of packetized video transport streams.
  • Understanding of file-based workflows.
  • Ability to read and comprehend drawings and schematics.
