Senior Electronics Design Engineer

At the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, a group of passionate and determined people work to design, develop, manufacture and race the cars driven by seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton and rising star George Russell.

 

The Team has set a new benchmark for Formula One success during the sport’s current Hybrid era, winning consecutive Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, and the Constructors’ Championship in 2021.

 

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Senior Electronics Design Engineer in the Electronics group.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design of electrical system topology, architecture and harness design across a range of projects for both F1 and Non-F1.

 

Applied Science is the commercial engineering division of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team with the mission to leverage the best motorsport technologies to deliver performance for customers across the domains of land, sea and air.

Key responsibilities/Duties:

  • Design of electrical and electronic systems across a range of projects from specification to implementation.

  • Electrical architecture, concept, design and topology

  • Electrical Schematic capture for both F1 and non-F1 electrical systems

  • I/O specification for each electrical system.

  • Harness routing and installation design using CAD in 3D.

  • Peer checking of Electrical harness designs and drawings before release

  • Liaison with external suppliers to provide manufacturing specifications and assembly drawings.

  • Attending design reviews and working closely with other design groups to deliver an integrated design.

  • Mentoring and collaborating across the electronics group.

Candidate profile:

  • Electronics engineering degree or equivalent.

  • Experience in delivering electronic/electrical designs across a range of disciplines in a high-tech industry

  • Proven experience in creating and delivering reliable electrical architectures

  • Communicative and collaborative skills to deliver effective cross departmental integration and results

  • High attention to detail and the ability to work independently under a limited supervision to tight deadlines

  • A can-do attitude, proven ability to lead a team to deliver electrical systems and architectures.
