The Position:

We are looking to enhance our Programme Management Department at our Race Team Hub in Banbury, UK. This is a fast-paced and challenging opportunity for a team-oriented Race Programme Manager to make a substantial impact within a small team.

General Summary:

Working within the cross functional Programme Management Group, this position reports to the Global Programme Manager or their designee and is located in Banbury. Responsible for working within the programme management group, traveling to all race & test events and integrating to the race team. This person’s primary responsibility is to coordinate necessarily work between programme management, race engineering and the race team. This person needs to be organized, have strong background in mechanical engineering, have excellent communication skills and be a team player

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Accountable for the Car Spec definition combining all mechanical and aerodynamic requirements including all relevant instructions and procedures.
  • Accountable for trackside quantities of components communicating to the race team availability and status of parts.
  • Work with the trackside parts coordinator to generate an accurate turn-around, repair and scrappage list throughout an event.
  • Responsible for technical co-ordination trackside ensuring projects are delivered fully and feedback is provided to the factory based technical group.
  • Responsible for lifing updates trackside recording component changes during sessions.
  • Liaise with the Team Manager and Director of Engineering to ensure any technical requests are raised to the FIA trackside and supported as required.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Global Programme Manager or their designee.

Education and Work Experience:

  • GCSE, High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Further education including University Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering desired.
  • Preferably 6 years of experience in motor racing as an engineer.
  • Prior experience in Formula One is advantageous.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong technical background in car/ mechanical design / operation / build / preparation / car performance.
  • Needs to be proactive, flexible, organized and able to prioritize own workload.
  • Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations.
  • Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
  • Work well in a team environment with personnel at all levels.
  • A sympathetic approach to your work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.
  • A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.

Equipment and Applications:

  • Solid computer knowledge with experience in Microsoft Office products, PLM systems (3DExperience) and ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics AX).
  • Ability to prepare and present effective presentations of complex subjects to a diverse audience.
  • Ability to follow complex regulations related to shipment of materials.

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require some, international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.

This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids.
