Quality Engineer

SUMMARY

As a Quality Engineer, you will plan and direct activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Responsible for managing customer specifications and developing corresponding MAHLE specifications to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Direct workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
  • Compile / write training material and conducts training sessions on quality assurance activities.
  • Manage the return authorization data base, including logging complaints, strong problem-solving background, utilizing known problem-solving tools, controlling further processing and closing corrective action reports after verification of the effectiveness of corrective action.
  • Responsible for monthly tracking and reporting of customer quality measurables including, but not limited to PRR's, QR's, NCMR's, NCT's, QCIR's, PPM, etc.
  • Lead the advanced quality planning process and maintains records for APQP activities for all customer teams.
  • Provide guidance on quality systems and quality tools, such as MSA, APQP, FMEA, SPC and PPAP to production/quality engineers.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining packaging instructions.
  • Willingness to spend time on the manufacturing floor in order to better understand the processes and to further enhance communication with associates in a professional manner.
  • Travel to customers for pro-active visits as required, in response to quality concerns.
  • May be required to supervise temporary personnel or other MAHLE associates, as required, to support sorting activities at the customer's location.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university in related Engineering field.
  • Must have QE experience and strongly prefer automotive exp
  • Experience with quality systems / tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC and MSA.
  • Customer portal experience and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work additional hours in excess of forty (40) hours per payroll week.
  • Able to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract / concrete variables.
