Virginia International Raceway is America's Motorsport Resort. Located between Danville and South Boston, Virginia, the track opened in 1957 and closed in 1974. Reopened in 2000, it is one of America's finest and most beautiful natural terrain road courses. VIR offers a wide variety of dining experiences from the Oak Tree Tavern, Pagoda Grill, Catering, Concessions and Special Events.

 

Our kitchen team turbocharges memorable guest events! We are seeking inspired chefs that enjoy a fast paced environment.

As a Line Cook at the Virginia International Raceway, you'll create quality menu items in thriving, dynamic atmosphere. Join our kitchen crew at Virginia International Raceway. Our kitchen staff is expected but not limited to preparing cuisine for multiple dining outlets. Must be able to work nights and weekends. Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment. Kitchen staff will stand on feet for multiple hours at a time and will be required to lift up to 50lbs. The ability to adapt to guests needs while working under pressure is a must. This is a Part Time or Seasonal position.

The beautiful, iconic Virginia International Raceway hosts a variety of experiences from auto racing to weddings to concerts! Everyday is a new adventure! VIR has both Line and Prep Cook opportunities available in multiple outlets, such as our fast-paced concessions, the famous Oak Tree Restaurant, and with our phenomenal catering team.

Compensation: starting at $16.00-$18.00 per hour depending on experience

Responsibilities:

  • Prep food items ahead of time as requested, making sure not to prepare more than estimated needs.
  • Return all food items not used on the next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables.
  • Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems; control food waste, loss, and usage per standards.
  • Date all food containers and rotate as per the food standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
  • Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up. Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages.
  • Receive and unpack items as they arrive from food vendors. Date all items as they arrive and pack them according to department standards.

Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • 18+ years old
  • High level of professionalism
  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • Excellent verbal communication and organization skills
  • Reliable transportation with valid drivers license required
  • Minimum of Two (2) years restaurant or kitchen experience preferred
  • Comfortable working with a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment
