Director, Community Relations - Chicago Street Race

NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Director, Community Relations based in our Chicago office. The Director, Community Relations will work alongside the Sr. Director, Business Strategy to build and execute strategies to maximize community outreach, community engagement, and social responsibility for the all-new Chicago Street Course event.

Duties:

Develop strategies to build and maintain programs and activities that will have a positive impact on the community

Build and maintain relationships with members of the community, key individuals, and other organizations

Serve as a key point of contact for neighboring businesses, institutions, and communities

Be the principal ambassador for the organization, with responsibilities for delivering the company’s vision within the local community

Attend relevant events and activities to represent the company and build strong relationships with key community members

Respond to inquiries from community members and other interested parties – when needed, recruit a knowledgeable spokesperson or information source to assist

Engage and build strong, trusting relationships with NASCAR functional teams and external business partners to drive collaboration and communication across the event.

Identify and define metrics to track performance and develop ongoing dashboard reports to communicate progress and measures of success to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

Be an active leader within the community and in conjunction with the President, create a network of influencers within the market to help drive awareness and affinity for the event throughout the community.

Develop and manage a robust Q1 – Q2 Internship program that provides support for all functions of the Chicago Street Race

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
  • Minimum of six years of motorsports / sports industry, community relations experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Communicates with energy and positivity to motivate, influence, and inspire commitment and action
  • Superior follow-through with a high-level of accountability for assigned tasks
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude and passion for marketing                                 
  • Strong executional capabilities
  • Desire and ability to create and champion a vision
  • Strong collaboration skills are critical
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid drivers license
