Job Summary:

The Strategic Sourcing Agent will work closely with Engineering and Quoting teams to complete customer project quotes and new project introduction (NPI) in the sourcing of equipment, goods, and services at the best overall value for the Organization. This role will work closely with Purchasing, Production, Planning, and Quality to support initial project timelines and ensure pricing and lead time information is communicated and entered into the ERP system.

Job Role:

  • Establish and maintain the matrix of key Suppliers and their capabilities
  • Research and evaluate new Suppliers based on technical, customer, and regulatory requirements and overall value proposition.
  • Effectively negotiate price, quality, service and support levels, part availability, delivery and payment terms
  • Work closely with Engineering and act as a key liaison to the Supplier related to technical material requirements on new projects
  • Prepare Purchase Orders with accurate appropriate cost, delivery, and payment terms in support of Engineering / Production plans and customer deliveries as well as internal requests
  • Maintain strong Supplier relationships through business reviews as needed
  • Negotiate and resolve Supplier related claims as needed in support of the Supply Chain Manager
  • Provide input to ongoing raw material costs, monitor industry changes affecting supply and demand, monitor and track changing market conditions including price trends and raw material price indices, and provide analysis to senior management.
  • Maintain accurate records in the ERP system or other databases as required.
  • Cooperate and coordinate with Production, Planning, Shipping and Receiving, Accounts Payable, Inventory, Quoting and Maintenance departments as needed
  • Occasional travel to Supplier locations
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Will Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in procurement supporting custom and standard manufactured products
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrate success in accountability and the ability to perform in stressful environments with multiple production schedule changes
  • The ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
  • Thorough knowledge of MRP and other inventory planning techniques, including a clear understanding of procurement best practices. Global Shop Solutions experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrate abilities in communication (both verbal and written), organization, and persuasion are essential. Summarizing and presenting data.
  • Demonstrate project management skills showing the ability to initiate, prioritize, and drive projects with external supply partners to completion
  • Must be innovative, proactive, and motivated with a focus on continued improvement including cost savings initiatives
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and as a member of cross-functional teams
  • Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to be self-directed to consistently meet internal customer and external supplier needs on sensitive issues.
  • Act as a mentor/escalation resource to Buyers
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Combination of indoor and outdoor activities with varying conditions
  • Requires walking, standing, sitting, climbing, balancing, bending, reaching, handling, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
  • Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • May involve operating material handling equipment in a safe manner
  • Work may include exposure to variable noise levels, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc., requiring personal protective equipment
  • Some positions may require working with small parts/components, necessitating excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
