Restoration Mechanic

We are looking for an experienced engineer to bring their knowledge, passion, and drive to the position of Restoration Technician at ADP Classic Racing.

The successful candidate will work on an interesting selection of important historic cars, from carrying out full nut and bolt restorations through to providing preparation and support. Including time spent at pinnacle historic events throughout the year, such as the Mille Miglia, Tour Auto, Targa Florio Classica and St Moritz Automobile Week to name a few.

Roles and responsibilities

The role holder will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out an in-depth vehicle appraisal to assist with estimating the project.
  • Carrying out vehicle restorations and builds in line with client requirements.
  • Always strive to produce the best work possible in line with company guidelines.
  • Perform service, maintenance, and repairs on classic vehicles, in a workshop environment and potentially during sporting events.
  • Travel to sporting events on select weekends, in the UK and across Europe if required.
  • Ensure all work areas are kept clean, tidy, and organised at all times within the workshop or on events, maintaining a consistent professional company profile.
  • Organise and build detailed catalogues of parts and components along with keeping accurate and comprehensive records.
  • Work with managers and directors to plan and oversee projects to ensure progress is monitored and maintained.
  • Work with managers and directors to compile project information status reports to clients.
  • Possess basic fabrication skills (a good understanding of MIG/TIG welding is an advantage).
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • High attention to detail in all aspects of work.
  • A natural flair and interest in historic and sports vehicles.
  • Ability to identify solutions when faults or problems arise.
  • Be mindful of maintaining safety standards both when building cars and in the work environment.
  • Be a highly-motivated self-starter that is as comfortable working solo as they are collaborating productively within a team.
  • Be computer literate, with basic skills in Microsoft office – CAD design is a bonus but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence in their ability under pressure.
  • Exceptional attention-to-detail and organisation. Comfortable delivering a high standard of performance and quality whilst working to strict deadlines in a time-sensitive environment.
  • A flexible approach to working hours.
  • Mechanical experience within the historic sector preferred.

Monday to Friday, 8am until 5:30pm.
