Project Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:

Primary focus will be to execute cost reduction VALUEIMPROVEMENT PROCESS (VIP) projects; these VIP projects will require theindividual to lead, direct and monitor design and development work from conceptto production to achieve product objectives within a specified timeschedule.  Close alignment with the newproduct development and manufacturing team is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES& RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • ·Identify, lead, and implement VIP cost savingsby working cross functionally with the engineering, purchasing andmanufacturing teams.  Integration ofthose VIP savings must align with existing projects and have the approval ofthose project teams.  Any change mustmeet the quality, durability, performance and reliability requirements of theoriginal parts/subsystem.
  • ·Direct the programs using the PolarisDevelopment Process (PDP), ensuring that all requirements are clearly defined,documented, and achieved.
  • ·Manage the team to develop innovativeapproaches, breakthrough technologies, and improved processes. Collaborate withsuppliers to use their design expertise where appropriate.
  • ·Monitor and manage the manufacturing, quality,and purchasing resources and activities on the team, to provide seamlesscoordination and issue resolution between all team members.
  • ·Participate in field development testing asrequired; analyzes field problems and recommends possible solutions.
  • ·Motivate the entire team and others affectingthe program's success.
  • ·Assist functional managers to plan budgets and manpowerforecasts.
  • ·Other duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS &KNOWLEDGE

  • ·B.S. in Electrical Engineering (EE), ElectricalEngineering Technology (EET) or related engineering required.
  • ·3+ years of engineering project/designleadership experience, in similar industry. Strong technical background.
  • ·Ability to troubleshoot complex electricalsystems and consumer wireless electronic devices.
  • ·Familiarity with digital multi-meters,oscilloscopes, CAN networking tools, data loggers, and other electricaldiagnostic tools required.
  • ·Knowledge of infotainment systems and mobileapplications a plus.
  • ·Benchmarks competitivedesign/processes/materials and function.
  • ·Strong leadership skills and ability.Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • ·Excellent interpersonal skills and ability toinfluence others. Demonstrated ability to form business inter-relationshipswith supporting managers, leaders, and staff.
  • ·Decisive and prone to action. Must be Quality-oriented and customer focused.
  • ·Excellent project planning, organizing, and administrative skills. Understands how program objectives, tools, and resourcesrelate cross-functionally.
  • ·Riding experience and/or interest inRecreational Vehicles preferred.
  • ·Ability to work under pressure and maintain apositive attitude.
