Motorsport IndyCar Trackside Engineer

Job Description

Hybrid: Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time, but the general expectation is that the employee be onsite an average of four (4) days each week.

 

The Role

GM Motorsports Competition Engineering is directly developing IndyCar tools in support of our Chevrolet powered race teams. Using GM created simulation and support tools you will work with various Chevrolet teams on improving simulation correlation and operating at the DiL simulator. This is a very high-pressure environment supporting race teams during test and development work to identify vehicle performance. Being able to operate and communicate under extreme pressure and short timelines is critical as you become a key member of the Chevrolet IndyCar Team.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze race vehicle simulation data

  • Reduce large complex sets of data, create reports, and present findings using strong technical and English language (spoken and written) communication skills

  • Collaborate with various members of the program teams

  • Attend all race events (12 to 16-hours per day at times); travel to provide support when needed

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

  • 2 or more years of experience in motorsports engineering and motorsports simulation tools

  • High performance vehicle dynamics

  • Data Presentation

  • Ability to handle multiple programs efficiently

  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship leadership skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed

  • Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment
