As part of the internal combustion engine development division, you will apply your key skills working in an international team in Neuburg a. d. As a team coordinator, you will work in the internal combustion engine development division on the conceptual design, creation and ongoing development of a high-performance powertrain. Together with the team, you will help design the process here, continue to develop the applied methods and make sure your results are satisfactorily validated. It will be your task here to assess and optimize, independently and on your own initiative
the function of components and assemblies on the basis of CFD flow analyses and FE calculations. In the area of modeling and simulating multibody systems, you will describe the dynamic interaction between various components in a multibody system software program and derive from that the load situation for the system as well as the components involved. You will help design the process here, continue to develop the applied methods and make sure your results are satisfactorily validated. In collaboration with your colleagues from the areas of design, combustion process development, and engine testing, you will ensure that the components reach a maturity level that is required for the environment as quickly as possible.


Job Purpose/Role

  • Planning and performance of CFD flow analyses as well as statistical, transient, and thermal simulations of fluid circuits and air and exhaust gas lines
  • Creation of simulation models, including pre and post-processing, as well as result validation
  • Planning and performance of finite element method strength analyses, statistical, dynamic and thermal simulations as well as fatigue analyses
  • Creation of the FE models and evaluation and validation of the results
  • Planning and setup of multibody simulation (MBS) models
  • Model setup through finite element analyses to take component flexibility into consideration
  • The system behavior has to be optimized, other load parameters have to be developed in the post-process Documentation and presentation of the results
  • Support and coordination of external service providers
  • Performance of methodical basic work for optimizing the simulation processes and their forecasting quality


Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

  • Technical studies in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering or similar
  • Several years of experience in the field of flow simulation, preferably in the area of motorsports In-depth knowledge in the field of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics
  • Programming skills in Fortran, Perl, and Java are preferable
  • Skills in handling the Ansa, CFX, StarCD, eslCE, StarCCM+ programs
  • Skills in handling FE tools such as Abaqus and Femfat as well as Ansa and Meta-Post
  • In-depth knowledge in the area of construction materials, operating stability, and machine elements Several years’ experience in the field of computational structural analysis with a focus on MBS and FEM Skills in handling tools such as Adams, Simdrive, Excite, Simulation X or others
  • Excellent teamwork skills, organizational skills, and keen sense of responsibility

  • Full professional proficiency in German or English and a willingness to learn a basic level in the corresponding other language are prerequisites
