Understanding of DSEAR / ATEX / IP15 regulations. Ideally CompEx EX12 Design or CompEx EX14 Responsible person trained.
Experience with recognised industry standards (e.g. BS EN 61936, 60422, 7671, (phone number removed), HSR 25 etc)

Job purpose
The Project Electrical Engineer will provide engineering design and work with local vendors to ensure engineering standards for the delivery of Brimsdown Site Capex projects.
The Project Electrical Engineer will report into the Site Capex Manager as part of the Engineering Team, working in the Capital Projects Team at Brimsdown site
The Project Electrical Engineer will ensure that all capital projects from early concept and feasibility through to detailed design, build, commissioning and handover receives the appropriate guidance and direction, to ensure that relevant Electrical Engineering standards are understood, interpreted, and adhered to as part of the project.
They will support the maintenance of an overall Engineering Risk Register for the PGMS UK business and be responsible for and lead the maintenance of their discipline specific risk register for both the Brimsdown site. Their role in risk management will also ensure that all capital projects meet the relevant engineering requirements in accordance with business and regulatory needs.
The Project Electrical Engineer will provide engineering design by ensuring decisions are made on risk, ensuring engineering standards are maintained at a cost the business can afford. They will provide front end engineering concepts and optionality that considers both the initial outlay as well as the life cycle cost of the asset into the design and proposal ensuring that value for money has been achieved.
As a technical expert, the electrical engineer will further ensure that the latest technology available, industry best practice and value improvement engineering opportunities are considered into the final design solution (where appropriate) for the project acting as electrical engineering sign off.
The role will set the deliverables and scope for projects by writing or contributing to Project Basis documents. Well defined CAPEX project scopes will be detailed by the electrical Engineer by identifying risks and opportunities across the sites and also through working with the production and maintenance teams to understanding emergent issues or opportunities for improvement.
The electrical Engineer will contribute to ensuring the sites remain compliant with legislation and implementing improvements as outlined in frameworks such as COMAH and may be required to occasionally support during audits by the competent authority.

Special factors

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Your normal working environment will be office based onsite at either Brimsdown or Royston. The role will also require visits to the production areas of the sites.

Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a recognised professional institute (or actively working towards this) Preferred

Familiarity of authorised electrical person / designated competent person working practices Preferred
Experience of COMAH regulations and having worked on a COMAH site Preferred
An awareness / understanding of Machinery Safety to BSEN 60204 & BSEN 13849 would be advantageous. Preferred
An awareness / understanding of Functional Safety and BSEN 61508 & 61511 would be advantageous Preferred
