Job Purpose

The Senior Manager - Fleet and DealerSales is responsible for the sales of Honda General Purpose Engines and PE Products (CBU) along with application engineering support associated with engine sales throughout the United States.

Sales: This position is responsible for accurate demand forecasting, coordinating with support groups to ensure timely production and delivery of products, and channel management for efficient sales and inventory management. This position mentors the Sales teams to develop a comprehensive understanding of: the markets they serve, the competitive landscape, and the retail environment for their respective products. This position also builds and maintains effective business relations with key accounts (Mass Merchants, Engine Distributors, National Accounts, Dealers, etc.)

Application Engineering: This position is responsible for the engineering support that creates best-in-class products for manufacturers (OEMs), Dealers, and Honda customers. The position: supports the development of new Powered by Honda products to the market to ensure the durability, quality, reliability (DQR), safety, and regulatory compliance of Honda products at the manufacturer (OEM).

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide clear strategic vision and tactical direction to all PE Fleet & Dealer Sales Department associates and appropriate stakeholders. Lead teams to assure resources are allocated and utilized to achieve organizational efficiencies, promote collaboration, and maximize workflow.
  • Develop PE Fleet & Dealer Sales Department teams to consistently achieve business goals and objectives, and achieve individual career goals. Provide associate vision and direction, set expectations, communicate and coach, evaluate individual performance, and provide constructive feedback to develop next generation associates.
  • Lead by example to create a culture consistent with the Honda Philosophy and Core Values while spearheading continuous improvement efforts to ensure consistent team success and individual mastery of craft. Provide an open, honest, and professional work environment as a catalyst to performance by providing the necessary motivation, resources, and encouragement for success, removing obstacles, and redirecting associates when necessary.
  • Lead the PE Fleet & Dealer Sales Department teams to develop long-term and short-term business plans, and achieve financial results, and department objectives. Gain executive management consensus regarding business plans and initiatives, communicate with appropriate stakeholders as needed, and assist next level of management and organization as a whole with the development of strategic and operational plans.
  • Prepare Fleet & Dealer Sales Department teams for the future by continuously reviewing the business environment relative to Honda's capabilities and resources. Work with Executive Management, Marketing and Product Planning to ensure Honda has a strong unique value proposition in the market, and develop sales and support channels that enhance this proposition. Ensure Honda customers are served to create lifetime owner loyalty and support the Honda's vision of being in brand likeability.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business or Equivalent
  • 10 years of business experience in sales and/or sales management
  • 10 years of experience in sales / business management
  • 10 years of power equipment industry (or equivalent) experience
  • Proven track record of strong business & financial acumen with excellent analytical and decision-making skills
  • 10 years of experience managing people
  • Alignment with Honda philosophy and Honda core values
  • Strategic thinker with excellent vision, planning, and tactical execution
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to achieve business results
