Led by racing legend Michael Andretti, the team fields multiple entries in INDYCAR, INDY NXT, IMSA and Formula E. The global racing enterprise boasts over 250 race wins, four INDYCAR Series championships, five INDY NXT titles, one Indy Pro 2000 and one USF2000 championship, and has captured victory five times at the famed Indianapolis 500-Mile Race. The team is now looking to expand into the pinnacle of motorsport through our Andretti Cadillac Team.

Job description:
We have an opportunity for a highly experienced Head of IT Operations to join the Andretti Cadillac Team at the new Silverstone Facility. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the company's IT infrastructure and service operations. This includes network and systems administration, hardware and software maintenance, security protocols, contingency planning, service delivery and project management. Principal Accountabilities:

  • Develop and execute the IT Operations Strategy in alignment with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Ownership of the company's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage systems, cloud solutions, and telecommunications systems. Operation of those systems ensuring maximum uptime and performance.
  • Ownership of the Race Team support function both at the track and in the factory ensuring maximum possible resilience and a highest level of support.
  • Ownership of the IT Service desk function ensuring a high level of internal customer service and provision of equipment and software.
  • Ownership of disaster recovery and IT business continuity plans ensuring the high availability and integrity of critical systems and data, and
  • Ownership and implementation of the company’s IT security strategy.
  • Develop and monitor the Operations Department Capex and PL&L annual budget.
  • Develop and lead a team of IT professionals, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance management to ensure a high-performing and cohesive team.
  • Implement and maintain IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and IT best practices using ITSM/ITIL as a guide.
  • Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and upgrading of hardware and software systems, ensuring compatibility, reliability, and security.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to identify and implement IT solutions that support business objectives and improve operational efficiency.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including contract negotiations and performance monitoring, to ensure the delivery of high-quality IT services.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in technology, evaluating their potential benefits and recommending innovative solutions to enhance the company's IT capabilities
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that the Health and Safety Policies, Standard Operating Procedures and guidelines are managed correctly and adhered to at all times.

Requirements

  • A degree in relevant subject (or equivalent career experience)
  • A minimum 4 years relevant experience in a senior line management role, managing at least 8 technical staff across infrastructure and service delivery roles.
  • A minimum of 10 years employment in an IT department with exposure to infrastructure design and support, and service management.
  • Previous employment within a Formula One or other motorsports team is essential to be considered for this role.
  • At least one certification in IT related management disciplines (ITSM, ITIL, PMP etc.).
  • Previous experience of developing, managing and owning a technology department budget of at least £1m.
  • Previous experience of developing and implementing departmental procedures and policies.
  • Extensive knowledge of Infrastructure Technologies and Security.
  • Extensive experience of Service Delivery and Project Management.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and passion for the role
  • Ability to line manage / lead teams effectively.
  • Able to communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors
  • Clear and concise communication, verbally and with the use of email
  • Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture
