To support our growth in the LMDh class of the World Endurance Championship, we have a position available for a Full-Time Controls Engineer within the race team.

 

Controls Engineer – WEC LMDh Porsche 963 

 

Overview: 

The role involves working closely with the engineering department, this is a fulltime role based at our workshop in Kent,UK. 

 

Job Description: 

Workshop 

  • Understand and optimise areas such as powertrain, differential, braking and energy management controllers.
  • Pre and Post-event reporting.
  • Data analysis to find performance gains in the cars with control systems, including drivability and overall lap time.
  • Develop tools to improve efficiency track side and within data analysis.
  • Liaise with the rest of the engineering group.
  • HIL/DIL integration.

 

Trackside 

  • Ensure the steering wheel and background settings are correct prior and during on track running.
  • Ensure legality on regulated parameters during running.
  • Use data to analyse, optimize and define controls changes – TC, BBW, differential and Energy Management.
  • Run energy strategy. 
  • Work within the LMDh Engineering group. 
  • Be an active part of garage build and pack down. 

 

Requirements 

  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Good Communication.
  • Ability to manage own time and tasks. 
  • Previous experience in MATLAB/Simulink is helpful but not essential.
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in engineering.
  • Understanding of systems, controllers, vehicle dynamics and driving.
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience in a similar motorsport’s role (FE, F1, LMH/LMDh).
