An opportunity has arisen for a Head of Commercial to join the Commercial/Motorsport department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment. As the Head of Commercial focused on Motorsport, you will play a pivotal role in managing the commercial relationships between Fortescue WAE (FWAE) and key stakeholders within the dynamic and high-paced Motorsport industry. This senior position requires a deep understanding of Motorsport, coupled with advanced skills in high-tech consulting, to lead and drive business development initiatives. Your primary goal is to identify, secure, and convert new business opportunities, ensuring market-leading performance and speed to market aligning with our purpose of engineering winning performance at pace to enable a de-carbonised future.

 

Job role:

 

  • Strategic commercial ownership for Motorsport BU
    • Ownership of revenue growth for Motorsport business unit
    • Strategic planning of BD activities
    • Commercial portfolio leadership & coordination of BD activities
    • Management and prioritisation of ongoing opportunities
    • Commercial mentoring and coaching across motorsport team
  • Market Expansion and Lead Development:
    • Identify and develop strategic leads within the Motorsport sector.
    • Initiate contact, understand customer requirements, and present tailored proposals.
    • Maintain and nurture post-sale customer relationships.
  • Proposal Development and Collaboration:
    • Produce comprehensive proposals, collaborating with internal technical, legal, and commercial teams.
    • Conduct desk and customer-driven market research for a well-informed market strategy.
  • Competitive Landscape and Market Awareness:
    • Keep abreast of the competitive landscape in the Motorsport industry.
    • Contribute to forecasting and achieving revenue targets in the target Motorsport markets.
  • Contract Negotiation and Relationship Management:
    • Draft and finalize commercial terms in collaboration with the legal department.
    • Develop and enhance relationships with new and existing Motorsport clients to drive revenue growth.
  • CRM Management and Marketing Collaboration:
    • Maintain accurate entries in the CRM system, providing insights into new opportunities.
    • Collaborate on the development of effective marketing collateral for Motorsport products and services.
  • Industry Representation and Events:
    • Represent Fortescue WAE professionally at key Motorsport industry events.
    • Contribute to the company's presence in Motorsport through active participation.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration and Performance Improvement:
    • Work closely with the broader Fortescue WAE business development team to align customer demands with product and service offerings.
    • Contribute to improving the overall performance of the Business Development team.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Provide regular qualitative and quantitative reports on the progress of Motorsport commercial activities.
    • Document and maintain a prioritized list of prospects to support the Business Development strategy.

 

You’ll have:

 

  • Proven experience in the Motorsport industry, showcasing a successful track record in business development.
  • Strong research, analytical, numeracy, and computer skills.
  • Project management and organizational expertise.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to convey customer requirements to internal teams.
  • Demonstrated success in commercial contract negotiation.
  • Commercial awareness and proficiency in project costing and earned value management.
  • Ability to distinguish between reliable and unreliable data with excellent attention to detail.
