About the Role:

We are looking for engineers and computer scientists with excellent skills mathematical modelling, numerical analysis and computational methods (particularly in optimisation and numerical optimal control) along with the ability to write quality for the development of advanced vehicle simulations.

In this role, you will work collaboratively across a variety of areas to improve and shape the computational capabilities of the team by creating innovative engineering solutions to real problems. This position will report directly to the Lead Capability Simulation and Modelling Engineer.

We believe that we work best together as a team. This role will have a hybrid working arrangement with a combination of working from home and working from our campus in Brackley.

As a Software Engineer (Simulation), your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to our high-performance simulation software with advanced physical models and simulation algorithms.

  • Improving the performance, usability, and efficiency of existing models and algorithms.

  • Innovating to advance the state-of-the-art in modelling and simulation group technology and further develop our models and simulation.

  • Delivering on strategic projects and goals for the team in the field on modelling and simulation while pragmatically meeting the needs of a racing team.

To be successful you will have:Essential:

  • A degree in computer science or engineering (MEng, MSc or PhD) or a similar qualification.

  • Previous  experience in a similar role in industry and/or academia.

  • Demonstrated interest in performance optimisation of algorithms, linear solvers and parallel computing.

  • Proficiency with at least one general-purpose programming language (Python, C++, MATLAB or equivalent).

  • Strong fundamentals in numerical analysis, computational methods, and understanding of classical mechanics.

  • Understanding of software engineering practices, algorithms and software design.

  • Excellent communicative and collaborative skills.

  • The capability, enthusiasm and attitude essential for our work environment.

  • Experience working on multiple projects in parallel, delivering high-quality work on time.

Desirable:

  • A solid understanding of optimisation theory, non-linear programming techniques, engineering optimisation numerical optimal control and/or linear solvers.

  • Experience with parallel programming, ideally OpenMP, MPI or CUDA.
