Led by racing legend Michael Andretti, the team fields multiple entries in INDYCAR, INDY NXT, IMSA and Formula E. The global racing enterprise boasts over 250 race wins, four INDYCAR Series championships, five INDY NXT titles, one Indy Pro 2000 and one USF2000 championship, and has captured victory five times at the famed Indianapolis 500-Mile Race. The team is now looking to expand into the pinnacle of motorsport through our Andretti Cadillac Team. 

Job description:
We have an opportunity for a Lead Engineer - Aero Regulations to join the Andretti Cadillac Team at the new Silverstone Facility. In this role you will play a critical role within the aerodynamics team, ensuring compliance with all aerodynamic regulations set forth by the governing body. This position involves meticulous checking, auditing, and management of all aspects related to aerodynamic regulations. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with aerodynamicists, designers, and other team members to maintain the highest standards of compliance. Principal Accountabilities:

  • Regulation Compliance: Monitor and interpret the latest aerodynamic regulations, ensuring that all aerodynamic design and development activities adhere to these regulations. 
  • Auditing and Verification: Conduct thorough audits of aerodynamic components and designs, to verify compliance. Identify any deviations and propose corrective actions. 
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation related to the aerodynamic regulations, including rulebooks, technical directives, and updates. Communicate changes to the team and ensure awareness. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with aerodynamicists, designers, and other team members to integrate regulatory requirements into the design process. Provide guidance on compliant solutions. 
  • Responsible for coordinating the required FIA auditing with relevant engineers and designers. 
  • Risk Assessment: Assess potential risks related to regulatory compliance and propose mitigation strategies. Anticipate challenges and proactively address them. 
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about advancements in aerodynamic regulations. Propose process improvements to enhance compliance efficiency. 
  • Communicate key findings, opportunities and threats to key stakeholders within the aerodynamics department and other key areas of the company. 

Requirements

  • Multiple years’ relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within the motorsport industry.  
  • Deep understanding of the Formula One® Technical Regulations.
  • Experience in leading, managing and directly contributing to aerodynamic development across all areas of the car. 
  • Strong experience in state-of-the-art CFD/Wind Tunnel/Track aerodynamic testing approaches and methodologies. 
  • Ambitious and self-motivating with the ability to motivate and extract maximum potential from others. 
  • Well versed with CFD and 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA). 
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. 
  • Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors . 
  • Collaborate and respectful attitude. 
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors. 
  • Clear and concise communication.
  • Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
