Grand Prix Karting offer a premium outdoor karting experience and our renowned 1 kilometre International circuit is celebrating its 30th anniversary. We are looking for an individual to help maintain and service our fleet of 21 Biz NG1 Thunderkarts which utilise Honda GX270 petrol engines.
You will be required to push karts into the pit lane so that mechanical duties can be fulfilled. Daily tasks will include fueling karts, checking oil levels and tyre replacement. Less frequent tasks will include the replacement of drive belts, brake pads and cables, clutch rebuilds and more in-depth tasks. During race events you will cover the pit lane and flag marshal therefore will need to communicate with both competitors and staff as necessary. It will be your responsibility to number karts before race events and seat guests where you shall correctly adjust seats and pedals to ensure safe and comfortable operation.
Applicants should have a keen eye for detail and will be required to test karts whilst looking and feeling for any potential faults. You will strive for perfection and will be happy to get your hands dirty whilst ensuring that each of our karts are not only in excellent mechanical condition but are also evenly matched. An interest in motor sport, (either as a competitor or as a spectator), is an advantage and you should have past mechanical training either with karts and/or small four-stroke petrol engines. You will work well in a fast-paced environment and will thrive on working under pressure to ensure that all customers receive nothing but a positive experience.
Mechanics are responsible for ensuring our entire fleet is operational and competitive, Duties include:
- Pushing our fleet in and out of the workshop.
- Fueling karts.
- Mechanical servicing.
- Preventative care.
- Part replacement.
- Kart testing.
- Recording kart maintenance via a computer.
- Ensuring fairness and likeness.
- Maintenance of a small Junior fleet.
- Seating guests.
- Numbering karts.
- Flag marshalling.
- Liaising with both customers and staff.
