People Partner – NEOM McLaren Electric Racing (12 Month FTC)

McLaren Racing’s entry in Extreme E and Formula E aims to accelerate McLaren Racing’s sustainability journey and reach a new, more diverse global audience and workforce. Based on the unique Bicester Heritage site, the Extreme E and Formula E teams combined are known as NEOM McLaren Electric Racing.

Purpose of the role:

We are looking for a confident HR practitioner to provide exceptional HR support to our NEOM McLaren Electric Racing team, circa 80 employees. The role will be based at our HQ in Bicester. This role will deliver a progressive people agenda where winning becomes the inevitable by building a sustainable high-performance culture and environment.

As a People Partner, you will be the main point of contact for our Electric Racing team members and Senior Leadership Team. You will be confident engaging with stakeholders at different levels within the business and poised to provide tailored, operational advice, coaching and support. You will have a passion for building and developing a high-performance culture, helping to define and roll out agreed initiatives. You will be able to act as a sounding board to provide key solutions as well as foster strong working relationships – being an integral part of the teams you support.

The role will report to the People Director and although you will have no direct reports, you will have the support of the wider McLaren Racing People Team and you may be required to visit the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking on occasion for collaboration purposes.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Be the first point of contact for managers and senior leaders, partnering on all people related queries and initiatives, escalating where required to ensure alignment with the overall People Strategy and performance of the team.
  • Ensure strong employee relations through pragmatic engagement and coaching of managers to fulfil their legal obligations effectively.
  • Case management, including sickness absence and OH referrals, and responsible for any particularly complex ER cases that require your support when escalated.
  • Deliver the Electric Racing talent management process, including succession planning and talent development outputs to retain key talent.
  • Work closely with the Talent Acquisition and leadership team on attraction, engagement, and recruitment including Early Careers intake.
  • Support the implementation and delivery of diverse talent programmes such as Extreme E Racing for All.
  • Proactively lead on the teams’ Pulse Survey reviews and subsequent action planning, ensuring a collaborative approach with team members, managers and leaders on the process and communication of results. Own the effective implementation of action plans.
  • Support the reward process including annual salary reviews, bonus scheme and benefits.
  • Implement and own culture building activities to support a high-performance environment, including wellbeing and human performance initiatives.
  • Embed the McLaren Racing vision, mission, and values into the way we operate as a team, including through induction and onboarding processes.
  • Provide key insights and best practice support to team members to help develop an inclusive culture.
  • Coach and develop the leadership team to embed a culture of continuous feedback and learning.
  • Lead on STEM Engagement and outreach opportunities within the local community.
  • Own and maintain key communications systems such as the Electric Racing SharePoint and team newsletter.
