Background:
Led by racing legend Michael Andretti, the team fields multiple entries in INDYCAR, INDY NXT, IMSA and Formula E. The global racing enterprise boasts over 250 race wins, four INDYCAR Series championships, five INDY NXT titles, one Indy Pro 2000 and one USF2000 championship, and has captured victory five times at the famed Indianapolis 500-Mile Race. The team is now looking to expand into the pinnacle of motorsport through our Andretti Cadillac Team.
Job description:
We have an opportunity for a Head of Aero Development to join the Andretti Cadillac Team at the new Silverstone Facility. In this role you will have key responsibility for the Aerodynamic Development of the current and future race car. At Andretti Global, we aspire to be the absolute best in every aspect of our team. Principal Accountabilities:
- Working with Aero Management and Development groups to construct a mutually agreed and communicated Aerodynamic Strategic Development Plan.
- Monitor, guide and directly contribute to the aerodynamic development progress across groups.
- Promote an ambitious, positive, respectful, and logical approach to aerodynamic development with a clear strategic framework.
- Suggest, investigate and, where applicable, implement new methods and processes to improve efficiency of aerodynamic ideas generation, design, testing, analysis, and reporting.
- Contribute to collaborative discussions and efforts to improve whole-car performance, offering ideas and taking on board feedback from others.
- Communicate key findings, opportunities, and threats to key stakeholders within the aerodynamics department and other key areas of the company.
- Occasional travel may be required as part of this role.
Requirements
- A minimum 12 years’ relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within the motorsport industry.
- Deep understanding of the Formula One® Technical Regulations.
- Experience in leading, managing and directly contributing to aerodynamic development across all areas of the car.
- Strong experience in state-of-the-art CFD/Wind Tunnel/Track aerodynamic testing approaches and methodologies.
- Ambitious and self-motivating with the ability to motivate and extract maximum potential from others.
- Experience in planning, organizing, and managing aerodynamic development projects against pre-agreed targets.
- Well versed with CFD and 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA).
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors.
- Ability to line manage/lead teams effectively.
- Communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors.
- Clear and concise communication, verbally and with the use of email.
- Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
