POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Mid-Level Perception Autonomy Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will contribute to the development and deployment of perception algorithms for our autonomous systems. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, electronics experts, and design engineers, to enhance our perception capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Algorithm Development: Develop, integrate, and implement perception algorithms that enable autonomy functionalities, including perception, motion planning, and controls.
  • Sensor Fusion: Adapt perception systems to new sensor suites, including cameras, radars, lidars, GPS, IMU, and ultrasonic sensors. Fuse data from multiple sensors to enhance perception accuracy.
  • Model Training: Implement algorithms to train systems to recognize patterns and perform specific functions.
  • System Integration: Collaborate with other teams involved in the development lifecycle, including mission and motion planning, simulation, and testing.
  • Troubleshooting and Debugging: Review test outcomes, conduct troubleshooting, and debug issues related to perception algorithms.
  • Stay Current: Keep abreast of the latest advancements in perception, AI, and machine learning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

We welcome candidates with diverse backgrounds and varying levels of experience. The following qualifications are tailored to different educational backgrounds:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant discipline
    • While no professional experience is required, a strong academic foundation in perception, computer vision, or related areas is essential. Candidates should demonstrate research capabilities, a deep understanding of algorithms, and the ability to contribute to cutting-edge projects.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with 3 years of experience:
    • Candidates should have at least 3 years of hands-on experience working with perception systems, sensor fusion, and algorithm development. Proficiency in programming languages (C++, Python) and familiarity with sensor technologies are crucial.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with 5 years of experience:
    • Candidates should have a solid track record of 6 years in the field of perception, computer vision, or related areas. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential. Practical experience with sensor fusion techniques and software development is highly valued.

PREFERED SKILLS:

  • Experience with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.), ROS2, openCV
  • Knowledge of robotics, motion planning, and control systems
  • Previous work on autonomous vehicles or robotics projects

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • Position requires light physical activity
  • Daytime schedule Monday-Friday with infrequent night/weekend work for project surge support and additional effort as needed to achieve deadlines
  • Hybrid work model (dependent on current project needs)
  • Infrequent travel as required for on-site customer work
