Duties / Responsibilities (Including Objectives of the role):
Role purpose:
Welding of Fabricated assemblies using Mig/Mag,Spot welding and/or Tig welding processes.
Duties:
- Manufacture of assemblies to drawings/process/instructions using various welding equipment
- Machine start-up, set-up and programme selection
- Knowledge of welding equipment being used
- Use of Grinding Wheels, Drills, Power Saw and various other tools as appropriate
- Inspection and testing of assemblies prior to finishing operations
- Ensure processes are followed at all times
- To be able to work in a structured manner
- Completion of batch cards
- Identification of maintenance concerns & first level resolution
- Moving parts to next operation
- Work in accordance with Health & Safety guidelines including keeping work area and machine clean and tidy
- Responsible for using and keeping in good condition P.P.E.equipment supplied at all times
- Meet quality & production targets as set by the area supervisor
Qualifications and Experience (Essential & Desirable criteria)
Essentials:
- A qualification related to welding and fabrication
- General Fabrication and welding - MIG/MAG & TIG
- Knowledge of equipment used in welding and fabrication
- Attention to detail and good communication skills
- The ability to read engineering drawings
- General Fabrication and sheet metal
- Good communication skills
- Reliable, self disciplined, trustworthy and enthusiastic
- Flexible to work changes
Desirable:
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths or English
- Fabrication and welding of light to medium gauge materials up to 8mm thick and TIG weld
- Understand and use a Kanban system
- The ability to read complex engineering drawings
