As our company continues to grow, we're looking for a talented Design Engineer to join us. The role itself is varied and challenging and will involve working across a wide range of sectors including Motorsport, Aerospace and visual-automotive carbon components.
You will work alongside a team of Design Engineers and report to the Design Manager.
Responsibilities/Role: What we want you to do
- Design of moulds, tooling, jigs & fixtures using Catia v5.
- Creation of drawings and bills-of-materials for both parts and assemblies to support all manufacturing processes.
- Reverse engineering of legacy parts by creating new 3D models and drawings.
- Providing technical information & support for manufacturing and inspection processes.
- Liaise closely with customers and colleagues regarding design activities, technical requirements, reviews, specifications and timescales.
- To rapidly integrate into the existing multi-discipline engineering team.
- Must demonstrate good time management and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
- This role is office based but may require occasional customer visits.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Strong working knowledge of 3D CAD systems (Catia/NX/Solidworks or similar).
- Qualified to UK degree/HND in design/mechanical/manufacturing engineering discipline, or;
- Engineering apprenticeship plus HNC and relevant experience.
- An understanding of document and drawing control requirements.
- Competent with MS Office applications.
- Good English verbal and written communication skills.
- Low volume manual manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Technical & systematic troubleshooting.
- A clear understanding of design for manufacture.
- Ability to work under pressure.
Desirable Experience & Skills
- Knowledge of composite manufacturing techniques and processes.
- Experience of PLM/PDM software.
- Knowledge of ISO9001/AS9100 standards.
- Hands-on practical experience of manufacturing processes.
- Moulds, tools, jig & fixture design for composite components.
