Purchasing Manager

Hendrick Motorsports is currently seeking a Purchasing Manager responsible for analyzing internal data and outlooks to develop, implement, and drive activities of the purchasing department to ensure necessary products, services, and equipment are adequately and sustainably sourced.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Oversees daily workflow and schedules of the purchasing team and monitors processed transactions for accuracy and awareness.
  • Drafts, explains, and implements instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing and contract management.
  • Executes supplier development relations and processes; maintains direct engagement with suppliers to support sourcing relationships and arrangements or to resolve grievances.
  • Analyzes purchasing trends to market and internal demand. Develops sourcing strategies based on the market, production requirements, delivery systems, pricing, and other variables.
  • Collaborates with engineering, production, and other technical departments to identify needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, supplies, and acceptable substitutions.
  • Compiles data and presents reports outlining current activities and specific recommendations for sourcing/supply chain optimization.
  • Maintains running assessment of market conditions to reasonably predict future product availability and develop sourcing proposals.
  • Monitors supplier performance, market dependencies and overall state of the supply base through KPI’s and prompts improvement or change when suppliers fail to meet expectations in product availability, quality, price, or customer service.
  • Develops and implements short- and long-term sourcing strategies to balance financial objectives, as identified through forecasting, demand/supply planning, inventory management, and distribution/logistics.
  • Collaborates with Inventory Control to assess inventories and develop replenishment strategies.
  • Manages and maintains purchasing data and recording keeping, including purchase orders, quotations, product catalogs, vendor records, supplier NDA’s, supplier agreements, etc.
  • Performs value analysis, life cycle cost studies, and other research or reporting as assigned.
  • Functions as super user of D35 Procurement & Sourcing and Production Modules
  • Directly trains field personnel in operations and systems or coordinates training as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Required
  • 5+ plus years of experience in procurement and/or supply chain or production management
  • 3+ years experience in manufacturing, preferred
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft D365, a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and related software.
  • Solid understanding of purchasing, inventory control, and business management principles.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experienced time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
