Race Strategy Analyst

Here at Sauber – a historic Formula 1 Team, we looking for an enthusiastic, driven engineer with an engineering or mathematics background to join our Strategy Group.

Reporting to the Racing Director, the Strategy Group plans and executes Race Strategy alongside doing Competitor Analysis and general Event Planning in collaboration with Race and Performance Engineering.

Within the Strategy, we have a rare opportunity for a Race Strategy Analyst primarily based in the factory.

The Role:

  • Take ownership of all tools used by the Strategy Group and liaise with the Software Group to act as a Product Owner for all Software Tools.
  • Develop the underlying models that help us drive Race Strategy Decisions.
  • Improve analysis methods and reporting.
  • Improve the live and offline decision-making process.
  • Work within the wider Track Engineering department and liaise with the Tyre Group to gather data that feeds into strategy models.

The Person:

  • Educated in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or an equivalent relevant field.
  • Has previous experience either in Formula 1 or a similar technical role.
  • Proficient in writing software – primarily Python and Matlab with an understanding of database structures and implementation.
  • Confident in reporting, presentation and communication.
  • Willingness to work on weekends.
