Electronics Lead Engineer (PU)

The successful candidate will be responsible for the specification, design, testing, calibration, and support Powertrain electrical/electronic systems and associated equipment. 

They will provide technical guidance and mentoring to Engineers and Junior Engineers, conduct design reviews, allocate tasks, and collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to ensure Electronics Design is fully integrated with wider engineering activities.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead the specification, design, integration, and delivery of Powertrain electrical/electronic systems and associated equipment.
  • Investigate and resolve electrical system issues, ensuring faults and assigned actions are completed promptly.
  • Support continuous improvement, development, and reliability initiatives, coordinating resources and driving project progress.
  • Review and approve designs produced by Engineers and Junior Engineers, providing technical guidance to ensure robust, fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Coordinate design workflows, task allocation, documentation, and release processes, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the required standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical and electronic systems, maintain design standards, and contribute to best practices and departmental procedures.
     

What We're Looking For

  • Proven ability to specify, design, and deliver robust electrical and electronic systems and components.
  • Strong understanding of engineering standards, documentation, drawing review, and design release processes.
  • Experience investigating and resolving electrical/electronic faults and driving corrective actions to completion.
  • Ability to define requirements, scope work packages, and provide technical direction for complex engineering projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills, with experience supporting the development of engineers and junior team members.
  • Effective planning, prioritisation, and resource management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
