The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team have joined forces with INEOS Britannia preparation for the 37th America's Cup in 2024. This project brings together two highly complementary spheres of high-performance, high-technology engineering and sporting challenge.  Since August 2019, team members from our Applied Science division have been dedicated to projects with INEOS Britannia, helping to deliver and accelerate performance for what's often referred to as 'Formula One on water'.

About the Role:

We're seeking a Software Engineer to join our growing agile software development group in the Applied Science department. You’ll work in a self-directing project team, with other developers, to deliver projects that continuously improve our insights of performance in various domains.

You’ll deliver on key projects to continuously develop more comprehensive insights, driving performance within its operating environment. Partnering with key areas of the business, you’ll enhance existing tools and systems, deliver exciting new projects, and manage internal customer experience. Examples include data & real-time infrastructure, data capture, data analysis, workflow automation and simulation development.

We’re looking for someone who has proven experience, working in a software team, who has delivered flexible, scalable, and maintainable solutions to complex problems. It’s vital that you can work with key stakeholders, maintaining a strong customer focus. It’s an exciting time to join our team to make a tangible impact on our development and race performance.

As our Software Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Being a point of contact for new software requirements and internal stakeholder management.

  • Enhancing existing systems, ensuring sustainable solutions, whilst building the functionality of the future.

  • Streamlining our software engineering projects and processes with the team, ensuring seamless customer experiences and advocating best practices.

  • Promoting modern software engineering practices – DevOps, configuration-as-code, test driven development, micro-service architectures, etc.

  • Supporting race and testing events, ensuring the team can access the right information at the right time to enhance our strategic decision making.

To be successful you will have:

  • Degree in Computer Science (or similar), or relevant experience.

  • Experience working in high performing self-organising teams, delivering solutions to complex problems.

  • Understanding of agile development methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

  • Experience delivering software within a DevOps culture.

  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)

  • Professional experience in Python development

  • Experience with any of the following languages / frameworks would be considered an advantage: Docker, Angular, Kafka, C++, C#

  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
