Senior Model Designer

Alpine F1 Team are looking for a Senior Model Designer to help us raise the quality of our aerodynamics testing to ever-greater levels.  With a dynamic and supportive team mindset and world-leading facilities in rural Oxfordshire, we provide the ideal environment where engineers can make their mark while continuously developing their own skills and capabilities.

If you are high performing, tenacious and motivated, apply today and take the first step towards joining the Enstone family.

The Role

As a Senior Model Designer you will be working very closely with fellow designers, aerodynamicists, production, model shop and our wind tunnel engineers to design model components and support testing in the wind tunnel.  You will be involved in all aspects of the design process, demonstrating ownership of projects all the way from receipt of initial surfaces to the test itself, using your creativity to devise innovative designs to the highest standard.  You will draw on your past experience of model design to contribute new ideas in design methodology, constantly striving to enhance your own capabilities and those of the wider team by helping to improve our procedures and processes.  You will lead by example, and help develop the next generation of designers by mentoring more junior colleagues.

This is a factory-based role at our Technical Centre in Enstone.  It will require flexibility, with some working in evenings or weekends when required to support design deadlines and wind tunnel tests.

The Person

You will have at least five years’ experience in wind tunnel model design, preferably in motorsport, during which you will have demonstrated excellent mechanical engineering knowledge and the ability to solve technical problems and create innovative designs.  You will have excellent CAD skills, ideally using Catia 3DX, and be able to create engineering drawings to a high standard, with a thorough understanding of GD&T.  You will be able to manage your work schedule effectively and efficiently to meet demanding design deadlines.

Capable of keeping an eye on the details while never losing sight of the big picture of what you are trying to achieve, you will be able to adopt a pragmatic approach when needed.  You will have a curious mindset, always hungry to learn and to make continuous improvement.

This is fundamentally a team role, so you will be an excellent communicator and be able to show us that you can work collaboratively even when under pressure.  You will be enthusiastic about mentoring colleagues and have the capacity for team management.

Alpine Racing strives to be diverse and inclusive, a place where we can all be ourselves. We welcome people from all backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures, and experiences. We are committed to making a consistent, top down effort to be role models on what diversity, inclusion and belonging means in society.
