CFD Correlation Engineer

We have an opportunity to join the CFD group as a correlation engineer.  This role should appeal to a candidate an academic background in CFD, Aerodynamics, or Physics subject, ideally with practical experience in an industrial setting.  You will have an aptitude for analysis and problem solving, and an eye for detail.  You will be primarily responsible for identifying and investigating CFD correlation working with the CFD correlation group to tune and enhance the CFD recipes used throughout the aerodynamics department.  You will be exposed to a wide range of topics where you will be expected to contribute as part of a learning and development path to broaden your skills.

As a CFD Correlation Engineer, you will:

  • Investigate miscorrelations and understand their root causes.

  • Develop and contribute innovative ideas to improving CFD.

  • Provide at elbow-support to aerodynamicists running bespoke non-production simulations.

  • Develop methodologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our CFD tools and workflows.

  • Work with aerodynamicists and CFD engineers to solve problems and develop processes.

  • Ensure that CFD simulations and analysis carried out within the department are aligned to the capability of the tools.

  • Working and contributing across multiple disciplines of the CFD group; including process, external flows, internal flows and thermal modelling.

  • Contribute to the day-to-day & problem-solving activities of the CFD group.

Our ideal CFD Correlation Engineer will have:

  • Good knowledge of physics and CFD, ideally with practical experience.

  • Degree educated in CFD, Aerodynamics, or Physics related subject.

  • Be enthusiastic about code development and willingness to learn best practices.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Comfortable in a user-facing role.

Applicants are preferred to have the following skills and experience:

  • F1 experience or relative experience within an industrial setting would be advantageous.

  • Experience of Python, and Unix shell scripting would be advantageous.

  • Experience in collaborative software development including source control, collaborative design, and code reviews.
