What to Expect

We are recruiting for a Body Assembly Manufacturing Engineer to join our fantastic Series Support team in Woking. As the Manufacturing Engineer - BIW, you will be tasked with the continuous development of manufacturing processes used by the production team to build cars.

Additionally, you will take on the responsibility of integrating new model build processes from the Future Manufacturing teams in Series production, focusing on process improvement, leading quality investigations, and employing industrial engineering tools and techniques to maintain the highest standards of manufacturing excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Responsibility for the update and control of the following deliverables for existing series models:
  • Processing sequencing, documentation, and product traceability methodologies
  • Updating process documentation and PFMEA’s and Quality Control Plans
  • Implement and control Lean Manufacturing and error proofing strategies, validate load paths, tool access and ergonomics – series models.
  • Hours per Car generation & reporting
  • Ownership and maintenance of the Hours Per Car (HPC) data for existing models, ensuring plant efficiency and output targets can be achieved.
  • Working with other operational teams to identify and resolve production bottlenecks.
  • Utilising analytic problem-solving skills, including knowledge of 8D, Six Sigma, 4M’s, PDCA
  • Implementing and expanding concepts such as Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, etc., to reduce manufacturing cost and increase process quality and throughput – continuous improvement.
  • Supporting Future Man Eng. Team in the development & delivery of Body in White tooling solutions.
  • Line balancing and manpower allocation.
  • Collaborating with Future Man Eng teams in leading the design of new / amendments to existing layouts and material flow to ensure new models align with the overall plan and vision for the facility.

What You'll Bring

  • A degree in mechanical / automotive engineering or similar (2:1 or above) or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • Ideally you will have experience with:
  • Specification and procurement of major assembly equipment
  • Planning and execution of vehicle programs
  • Complex vehicle systems
  • Vehicle assembly processes
  • Body assembly processes
  • Identifying resolutions for product related issues, ensuring all quality targets are achieved.
  • Implementation of safe working practices
  • Proficiency with CATIA, 3D experience is desired, but not required.
