Trackside Engineer - GT

Pirelli Motorsport, one of the leading international tyre manufacturers, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Trackside Engineer - GT.

 

The successful applicant will become an integral member of the Pirelli Motorsport team. You will be involved in providing professional trackside engineering support in a variety of motorsport categories, reporting on tyre performance to HQ as well as supporting our commercial markets with engineering support both on and off track.

Based at our facility in Didcot (UK) you will attend on track events such as racing and testing in the UK and abroad, with visits to Milan (HQ) when required.

You will strive to continuously improve performance, quality and safety to make Pirelli the ’go to’ brand for motorsport tyres. Your analysis of race data and solutions provided will improve performance for motorsport teams.

 

The Role:

  • Provide first class service to our partners in respect of Pirelli Motorsport way of working.
  • Interpret and analyse race data  aiming at continuous improvements in a timely and factual manner through statistical analysis and liaison with colleagues and racing teams.
  • Working closely with our global markets and customers, both analytically and practically to provide feedback on our products and local motorsport scenarios to HQ.
  • Supporting various markets, championships and standalone events in relation to our products and their usages, whilst producing clear and concise reports in a timely manner.
  • Liaising with championship technical staff to ensure that Pirelli’s products are used correctly from a technical standpoint.
  • Taking the initiative to solve problems through statistical and performance analysis, whilst regularly liaising with customers and colleagues from all functions.
  • Analysing and interpreting data on behalf of Pirelli with the aim of promoting continuous improvement of the product, the procedures and brand standards.

 To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5 years trackside experience.
  • Possess a relevant qualification indicating experience in vehicle engineering or related area e.g. Mechanical / Technical/ Racing.
  • Have excellent IT Skills (in particular Microsoft Excel).
  • Ability to prioritise, co-ordinate and organise workload, ensuring deadlines are achieved.
  • Experience of motorsport data/telemetry systems advantageous.
  • Have a lifestyle conducive to international and extensive travel which will include weekends.
  • Be an effective communicator who is a team player and able to build strong relationships.
  • Be able to work in a fast paced and highly pressurised environment.
  • Flexible approach to work with the ability to work under pressure both as part of a team and individually.
  • Driving license require.
  • The successful candidate will be prepared to undertake substantial worldwide travel and will have the right to work in the UK (either a British passport or settlement status).
