What to Expect
We are recruiting for a Senior System Test Engineer to join our fantastic Testing Department in Idiada. As the Senior System Test Engineer you are accountable for the planning, execution and reporting of McLaren body development and validation testing, ensuring robust design execution.
What You'll Do
- Planning and executing McLaren managed system and vehicle level body tests defined in the design validation plan (DVP).
- Designing, building, commissioning and executing system and vehicle rig tests to a high technical standard.
- Generating and maintaining regular data driven test and status reports.
- Conducting and supporting failure root cause analysis (RCA).
- Prospecting, nominating and coordinating outsourced test facility suppliers.
- Creating and maintaining test procedures and strategies.
- Planning and executing internal and competitor benchmarking tests.
- Catalogue test data to aid system development and target setting.
- Managing and reporting against programme testing budgets.
- Supporting the System Test team in the development and validation of chassis, thermal and powertrain systems.
What You'll Bring
- Engineering bachelor’s degree 2:1 or above or relevant experience
- Knowledge and experience in automotive body validation procedures.
- First-hand experience in the design, build, commissioning and running of test rigs including structural design and instrumentation for measurement, actuation and data acquisition.
- Experience with data analysis.
- Catia V5 design capability.
- Understanding of automotive body materials, technologies and manufacturing processes.
- Proven experience in root cause and failure mode analysis.
- Understanding of automotive legislation.
- Experience of low to medium volume vehicle production.
- Fluency in English
