Motorsport Application Engineer

SUMMARY:

The Motorsport Application and Sales Engineer (Fletcher, NC) take full responsibility for all aspects of application and/or sales duties for the assigned customer accounts and Motorsports product lines. It includes interface with customers, teams and individuals, on numerous subjects and in coordination with our Tech Centers in Detroit and Germany, and with various MAHLE production facilities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interface with various individuals at our customers and different locations within MAHLE. Act as primary contact with race teams and other Motorsports product customers.
  • Coordinate performance piston and related component development projects, from the design phase through the production phase. Coordinate research / testing activities conducted jointly with potential customers of the company's products. This requires handling necessary correspondence and customer contacts related to application and sales duties of assigned accounts. Also, general administration duties and special assignments as needed.
  • Understands customer requirements and task in order to be able to lead and define the most competitive, reliable and acceptable way to fulfill these requirements within the scope of the company's strategies, goals, missions, and production capabilities.
  • Must become familiar with MAHLE technology and design procedures.
  • Negotiate terms and pricing with customers. Have follow-up/communicate with customers for all basic Sales functions; sales orders, production requests, stock checks, order tracking, returns & credits.
  • Responsible for assigned customer inventories and component ordering and tracking.
  • Candidate must be able to communicate clearly and effectively on a variety of technical subjects with audiences of varied technical skill, background and personality.
  • Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions as needed to stay appraised of new developments in field. In turn, must likewise prepare and present pertinent information for meetings, seminars and training sessions.
  • Follow up on newly developed techniques / practices to support our customers in their piston development programs and other aspects relevant to MAHLE Motorsports.
  • Prepare reports concerning departmental activities as required. Organizes and prepares technical presentations for our customers.
  • Take responsibility for customer satisfaction and follows the company's strategies, goals and missions.
  • Travel periodically to other MAHLE locations as needed, as well as customer sites, customer scheduled meetings and trade shows.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Power Point); SAP training provided.
  • Preferred knowledge of motorsports industry and automotive engines, components and applications.
  • Solid organizational skills to be successful handle dynamic day-to-day activities
  • Must be cooperative, highly flexible, self-motivated and willing to work overtime if necessary.
  • Systematic working methods and good time management is required.
  • Must be able to prioritize activities according to department objectives and must become familiar with MAHLE technology and design procedures.
  • Will have to acquire special engineering background through internal training and training on the job such as: (a) Piston design, design specifications, FMEA and internal standards, (b) Specific internal / external quality standards, (c) Piston production and inspection methods
